So, I didn’t get the best sleep last night, in fact, I got almost NO sleep. Baby C decided that she felt like waking up every 2 hours to have some lovely milk, which means mummy had to get out and whip out the girls, ergo – today mummy is extremely tired. So you can imagine my horror when I realised (while making my tea) that I had to do my shred.ย  I was barely awake at the start of it –ย  but don’t you worry, as soon as we kicked into push-ups I was wide awake.

I went to bed last night feeling quite sad as I couldn’t see or feel any difference as yet – in fact I was almost going to give up but then realised something. This is SO like me. I expect results immediately and then don’t stick to anything – then blame the thing itself for not working when I didn’t give it a chance in the first place!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Not got too much planned today, I think me and the other half decided to sit down and discuss where the (his) business is going and what I can do to help – I mean, since I’m on maternity, we might as well take advantage of the time I’m home to help him establish the business a bit more.

Right – I’m off to have a shower, then drink a pint of water (the start of 8 today hopefully!), then hanging out with baby C. Might do a make-up review of the Dior Showgirl mascara later – if baby C decides she lets me so look out for that!

30 day shred day 5 – looking at these pictures I’m horrified as I think Ive actually grown?! I mean, we had sushi yesterday, that’s meant to be non-fat right? I don’t know,maybe the lighting when I took the picture today is worseย  – that’s right, I’m blaming the lighting. Or my eyes. Have a look below for day 1 VS day 5;

What do you think? The other half says that I’m being crazy to expect anything after day 5, but some ladies on a forum I’m on have such great results after just a few days, I guess I thought I would see the same too.ย  I hope by day 10 I should be able to see some sort of difference! I read somewhere that 10 minutes of hula hooping is meant to be good for you too – so I might try that in conjunction with my shred.ย  For some reason the other half actually owns a hula-hoop (OK, to be fair, it isn’t his, it belonged to his ex, but for some reason he’s still got it).

Its another non-day today – non-stop rain and misery. Oh wait, Wimbledon is on – that explains it all. I was thinking that for our mail meals next week, we should just eat fish – different types of fish of course. Fish is meant to be so healthy for you (yes even the the battered type!) BUT I realised that its my birthday (can you believe I’m FINALLY 21!!) OK, no, I lie, I’m 30.ย  So for my birthday we decided to go out somewhere fancy, don’t know where yet, but I’m sure it’ll be lovely. Maybe we’ll do our fishy-week the following week.

OK – lunch now (I know, I know its 5pm but when you’re a mum time seems to stand still!) then perhaps a film on. Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday!

After popping my beautiful little baby girl out, I was left with the not so beautiful stretch marks on the lower part of my belly, probably thanks to her being almost 2 weeks overdue. I was so sure I wouldn’t get any as I was so diligent with putting on the cocoa butter stretch mark prevention cream every night and had none until I hit 40 weeks.

Its an odorless stick that you put on twice a day. How does it work? Remescar is designed for scar care. It reduces new and old scars. It can also be used as a preventive therapy on closed wounds to reduce scarring – which means its perfect for stretchmarks. The magical ingredient is silicone. Ta-daa!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I guess I should be grateful as I know many other ladies get it far worse than me, still – its unsightly and I don’t care what the better half says ‘no darling you look lovely’ and ‘what stretchmarks?’ Good effort for trying, but failing miserably at making me feel that the stretch marks are invisible.

I read this article in the Daily Mail here a while back as as soon as I realised that the marks on my lower belly were not in fact a trick of the light, I recalled this article and decided to try out this new wonder product. Now, if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you would know that it annoys me when journalists who are most probably paid by the papers try out products and of course it always works for them, but when the average Jane like you and me buy said miracle products, we never see the desired results. And so, if the items are not that pricey, I decided that I would do my own scientific research, to buy it, try it, then post it for you to see for yourself.

Right – so here is a picture of my lovely stretchmarks today. I will update you with pictures in 28 days and you can tell me if you see a difference and worth you spending the money to buy it for yourself.

So its my 30 day shred day 4 – and I must admit I’m getting less and less tired while doing it – although my arms do still ache quite a bit. I was naughty today and had a LARGE fry-up for breakfast. I must admit – I’m not sorry I ate it, it is Saturday afterall! I have decided that if im going to have a hot chocolate and few teas throughout the day, then i must have zero sugar in all my teas (I have sugar in my hot chocolate you see). Desperately trying to cut down on my sugar you see – Ive had my first cup of tea today and almost spat it out. YUCK! How the better half has his tea without sugar is beyond me.

It’s pretty much a non-day today with the weather being so awful. I am quite happy though, we’re going out to eat sushi tonight and I can’t wait! I haven’t had sashimi since falling pregnant (not allowed to eat raw fish and all that!) so I’m really excited – it’s sad what you get excited about when you become a mum, I mean, who would have thought I would be excited about going out and eating Japanese! Just leaving the house sends me over the edge these days ha ha ha ha! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Ive been looking though the pictures Ive been posting on here and I’s so angry that these bloody stretchmarks are still here, plaguing my life, staring me in the mirror all day long. That’s why Ive bought this apparently new wonder product Remescar after reading an article in the Daily Mail here. Its supposed to work in 28 days so we will see. I’ll post before and after results here so you can see for yourself and judge. Its a stick that you use twice a day and has no obvious smell (for those with sensitive noses) We’ll see. ๐Ÿ™‚

Interviewing Luis Suarez

This is what I would imagine me interviewing Luis Suarez would be like. That’s right – its fictional. You didn’t think he would give me the time of day did you (mind you – I don’t fancy being bitten today anyway) . The most talked about footballer *at the moment* The man who’s got the whole world talking about his teeth. That’s right people. Introducing Mr Luis Suarez – father, footballer, biter, shark-enthusiast.

Kimmy: So Mr Suarez, here we are, in this lovely hotel conference room, sitting down and chatting.ย  What a rollercoaster of emotions you must be going through. Uruguay in – you’re out. How are you feeling.

Luis Suarez: Well, yeah, it’s not like I have somewhere to be anyway – i got loads of time now those horrible bad bastar*s at FIFA banned me because they *think* I bit Chiellini. I mean. ME! BITING SOMEONE! Imagine that! Pfttt. How insulting. I earn a jillion billion nillion dollars with Liverpool as it is – do you not think I can afford a curry? I don’t like pasta all the time!

Kimmy: But Mr Suarez – with all due respect, we do have evidence. Fifa HAVE finally shelled out for technology that lets us see the most minuscule blade of grass. We’ve seen the video. We’ve see the teethmarks. We’ve seen it ALL.

Luis Suarez: Look lady, its Chiellini who purposely jumped up onto my teeth. Not the other way around. He is the guilty one. I should be suing him for damage to my precious teeth. Ban him for a billion million jillion matches, just like they have banned me! He’s not even a great fool-ball player, like I am! I mean, who does he even play for?!

Kimmy: But Mr Suarez, I don’t think the evidence is lying… We’ve seen the…

Luis Suarez: Look, before I take a bite out of you – I didn’t do it! I’ve been framed! Its FIFA – they are all so jealous that the thought of Uruguay winning the world cup scares them, that they have made me out to be this shark called Jaws (what is that – like a movie? I’ve never seen it, I’m a footballer, not a movie watch-er-rer)ย  going around biting people. Lies. ALL LIES! They just don’t want me playing in the team, its a big conspiracy I tell you, A BIG CONSPIRACY! *at this point you can see Mr Suarez’s vein throbbing on his forehead through sheer anger* ๐Ÿ™‚

*Luis Suarez then gets up, and flings his chair at the wall thug-style while I duck and cover my arms in case he bites me, all while yelling ‘Don’t bite me, I’m not Italian!!’ *

Luis Suarez: Enough of this crap- you are just one of them jaws-haters. I’m leaving now. For a bite to eat. Good Bye!

The interview concludes with me hiding under the table (and covering my dear arms) and Mr Suarez storming out – to get a bite to eat.

Ok – My thighs are burning. I mean – It was that bad that I had to sit in the bathtub to soap my calves (which by the way aches too) My whole body aches. Don’t even get me started on my arms – it hurt so bad I couldn’t even turn properly last night. I guess that’s a good sign that its working (that’s what I’m telling myself anyway). Tonight we decided to eat fish and chips and I cannot wait – I LOVE fish and chips. Before you ask – no, I don’t have a cup of tea with my fish and chips (I’m not that English yet!) ๐Ÿ™‚

Lately, (Ok the past 3 days I mean) I have been drinking (or trying to at least) 8 pints of water. Before I fell pregnant I used to drink 2 litres a day, after I popped I would be lucky to drink one glass, I don’t know why, I just found it boring I guess. I’m hoping to get back into it, I managed 6 glasses yesterday, but only 2 today so far. I know its really bad, but I do like my ribena AND that still counts as part-water drinking, does it not?

Ive also tried to cut down a little on my snacking and my sugars – I don’t want to go on a diet as I know I cannot give up my sweets, but I think I’m going to have to cut down if I’m going to lose the flubber (she says this while eating baklava – last one I promise!) I think the easiest way would be to not by any ‘extras’ when we go food shopping (which is going to be hard – they have snickers on sale in Tesco at the moment!!) Im also having just one tea a day as I have 2 sugars in my tea (believe me, I used to have 6 suagrs before!)ย  Urghhh – stupid bloody weight! Just go away already, then I wont have to forgo my chocolates. Sweets. Chocolate chip cookies. Tea cakes. Arghhhhh! STOP! :/

OK, I can hear the baby gurgling which means either A: its time to whip a boob out or B: she’s left me a lovely present in her nappy. Fun times! Is anyone else doing the shred? How’s it going – see any difference yet?

Day 2 of my 30 day shred and my thighs are K-I-L-L-I-N-G me. My arms (thanks windmill!) ache like my baby weighs 20 pounds and to top it all off my weight has crept up a little (OK, I admit I ate some chips today) and its only day 2 – I’m so impatient with everything that I expect it to work tomorrow.ย  I tell you what really kills me – its the lifting of the weights when I do the lunges. I have never ever worked on my arms you see so this is all new to me. And the push ups – lets just say me and push ups have never been friends. EVER.ย  Bring on day 3 I say! ๐Ÿ˜‰

P/S: sorry about the lighting in the pictures – it was already not that bright when I finished doing the workout and then I showered and it got even darker so had to use artificial light! I must try and do the workout early tomorrow – it was a little hard today with thaking baby C to the dr’s and all that. And again – excuse the shorts in the picture… I do tend to lounge around in comfy shorts all the time now! Not sexy but at the moment I’m more interested in comfort ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‰

In other news: My poor baby C is not very well today, she’s had her second lot of jabs and for the whole day, shes been cranky. We had to run out to BnQ to get more fence paint and along the way realised we had to get new tyres – kerching kerching kerching! Its been a month of paying for random odd things, we had to get our roof fixed as part of it was falling off and you really can’t leave that.

Right, I am off to eat dinner – the OH has cooked salmon and rice today, healthy or what! (reaches for the soy sauce) ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a lovely evening !

Blogs do’s and dont’s

So, Ive been writing this blog for a while now but took almost a year off last year while I was sick (pregnancy and all that). Ive only really started getting back into it a month or so ago. I’m pretty much a newbie to it all and still figuring out my ‘meta tags’ from my ‘categories’. Today I found out that some reviews I posted online at a review website had a pretty nasty backlash. Basically I did a no-no – I posted a snippet of what I thought of the product, then included a link back to my website for the full review. ‘A sly review to get more visitors to her website through the link’, ‘if you’re not going to post a full review don’t bother at all!’ – and those were the nice ones. Of course, I updated the reviews with an apology and promptly deleted my account (cue worrying about what people thought about me the rest of the morning) And so, this post is about a blogs do’s and dont’s, according to what i’ve learned so far. Hopefully through reading this you don’t make the same mistakes I do!

Don’t publish part reviews on other review sites and include a link back to your site unless you want nasty comments like I had.

Do optimise SEO on your site and use social media to get your post/blog as out there as possible – certain twitters retweet your post to their followers garnering a larger audience for your tweet and ultimately your post/blog.

Don’t copy someone else’s blog layout – someone, somewhere will pick up on this and once again – you might get nasty comments and/or be accused of not being original.

Do look though word-presses vast array of themes – there are literally hundreds to choose from and modify as you wish. Alternatively, if you really wanted a custom site, you could look at getting someone professional to do one for you, this will cost money though so unless you’re prepared to shell out – I say have a look at the many themes available!

Don’t copy content. Again, its going to come back and bite you squarely in the arse. Write your own or don’t write at all.

Do be genuine and truthful with your reviews. Not everything you try can be great, awesome, cant live without. Being truthful will get you loads more people following you, people respect and appreciate truthful dudes and that is the truth people.

Don’t use someone else’s pictures. Take your own – even if its just with a camera phone (mind you, these days camera phones are really good!) you don’t need the latest Canon SLR to capture pictures. Just make sure they’re your own.

Do ask for permission if you simply must use someone else’s picture’s. Failing to do so might infringe copyright laws and that’s a tricky road you don’t want to tread down

Don’t try to trick Google to get you higher up the ranks by linking your website to everything and anything. Google have become increasingly aggressive in seeking and punish those who do. And believe me, you don’t want Google to penalise you – this would spell bad things for your site.

Doย put up genuine links to other sites which are only relevant to what you write about. This way you also reach out to like-minded bloggers and vice-versa, a win-win situation for all!

Don’t just pay money to another blog to advertise with them. Do your research on the blog you want to advertise with – how many hits do they get a day? Do they write about the same things you write? Are they like-minded? Will their audience be the same sort of audience you want to target? There’s no point to advertise your make-up review blog site on a baking blog site (even if the baking site got a billion jillion hits a day!) ๐Ÿ™‚

Do consider (if you have the spare money to splash out of course) advertising with a like-minded blog, but do be sure that they get loads of visitors a day/month in order to optimise the value of you placing an advert of your blog with them. Ive done this before with a similar blog site and I can testify that you do get more traffic. However, if you don’t have the spare money, despair not – optimising your site’s SEO will eventually get you more traffic, it will just take a little longer.

Right – those are all I can think of for now. Perhaps I will do and Blogs do’s and dont’s as I go along, learning as a I blog! Ok, I’m off to check up on the baby now, and drink a big cup of tea and eat a big packet of crisps – I deserve it I think!

OK – I gave up on the 30 day squat challenge. Why? Because it didn’t seem to do anything. Because I didn’t feel my thighs burn too much after each session. And the most important reason of all. Because the 30 day shred just sounded that much more meaner. I bought the DVD on amazon for a fiver – nothing to what I was being promised by Jillian Michaels – have a look here.

And so today was day one. The rules are simple. There are three programs of 20 minutes each, and you do 10 days of each program. Each program is harder than the last of course, so I guess by the third program I might be half dead! (please check back in 20-odd days time!) Then, in 30 days – you’ll look like you’ve never had a baby.ย  You’ll look like a Victoria Secret model. You’ll look like a GOD. OK, maybe not like a God, but the other two still stand. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So – here’s what I’ll do. Ill document my 30 days shred here with pictures daily and we shall see. Will Victoria Secret come a-calling? Who knows. Jillian Michaels seems convinced she’s going to change my body one stomach-churning crunch at a time. My legs ache a little now (thank you bloody jumping jacks!!)ย  and my mummy jelly belly feels a little stretched. I just know I’m going to be feeling it tomorrow. Great – at least I know Ive done something!

This was the lipgloss that I paired with my Urban Decay lipstick in Naked – review here.

Walk of Shame is a creamy light pink little number with light reflective sparkles that provide a sparkly shine. I tell you another thing I loved about this gloss – its lovely smell. It kind of has a minty smell that is unmistakable. Its quite a high-shine gloss too so less is more with this gloss.
