Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon review

IMG_1653 (1000x667)

What: Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow in Golden Quartz and Black Diamonds

Where: Charlotte Tilbury online here or Selfridges

How much: ยฃ19.00

I bought these (along with a lipstick and lipgloss of course) back in December last year when we did our annual Christmas Shop. I was looking for an intense gold eyeshadow for Christmas mass as I had seen Christina Aguilera use a similar one on the auditions of The Voice USA. I am a sucker for all things sparkly and shiny so these fit right into my makeup drawer(s) ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_1656 (1000x667)

Black Diamonds

I bought two colours; Golden Quartz and Black Diamonds.ย  This easy to use eyeshadow is intensely creamy and comes in a easy to use stick – no more faffing around with eyeshadow powders that annoyingly leave speckled bits of eyeshadow on your perfect foundation-ed face (perhaps its just me that forgets to put a tissue under my eye when applying eyeshadow to catch the loose bits?!)

IMG_1645 (1000x667)

Charlotte Tilbury kindly tells you which of her eyeshadow colours to pick to match your eyes – but me being me, took no notice and picked out the ones for blue eyes and hazel eyes – I have brown eyes but I really loved these colours so bought them anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ Its 10-hour long-wearing and waterproof – I used them overnight and this morning there were still on – fresh as a daisy. I also splashed some water on my eyes to try out the waterproof-ness of it and yes – it still stayed on – so tick for intense colour, tick for waterproof colour and a big tick for longevity.

IMG_1650 (1000x667)

There are 8 colours to choose from so not the widest range ever, but I’m certain you would find a colour you like, no matter what your eye -colour. I also love that its a pencil applicator – so much easier to apply when you are on the go – every tried to apply powder eyeshadow on the train? Its a freakin’ disaster! *laughs at self knowing how many times i’ve attempted it and looked ridiculous after* ๐Ÿ™‚ Another thing worth mentioning is that its easy to remove too – I used a tiny bit of cream cleanser and it wiped straight off – impressive seeing as how it had such staying power. Oh, and it didn’t leave behind glittery residue which I find in some glittery eyeshadows do. *annoying grin ON*:)

IMG_1658 (1000x667)

Check out the eyeshadow pictures below, doesn’t it look shiny and glittery! The eyeshadow is synthetically infused with sapphire to give it that extra glittery-oopmh and provides a smooth, soft-focus finish.

IMG_1848 (1000x667)

IMG_1864 (1000x667)

I would recommend these if your looking for intense long-wearing colour that’s waterproof – they’re really a great find! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to try their lipstick and lipgloss now!! Wa-hooooo!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Toodles for now!

This syrup sweet cotton candy coral pink number is a lovely slight pink colour.ย Light, nearly translucent with lovely micro shimmer tones of gold. Another one of my favourites for spring/summer with a floaty summer dresses.ย I have once or twice used it on a night out over See Sheer lipstick to give my lips that extra shine and it works a treat too โ€“ great offset to dark eye shadows, really brings out the colour of this sweet lip gloss.

It adds a slight hint of glossy shimmer to dull lips (like mine!) Another great thing about this lip-gloss is a little goes a long way – I sometimes find MAC lip-glosses a little too thick and sticky so less is definitely more. ๐Ÿ™‚

Get it here online if you can’t pop by a counter.

Rosemary chicken with orange glaze recipe

*I don’t know why the original post got lost as I posted this last Weds – no bother, here it is again!*

IMG_2396 (1000x667)

OK. I’m not even lying. This is THE BEST CHICKEN MEAL I have ever, ever EVER tasted.Did I mention its the best chicken meal I have ever tasted yet? Now, I am not a breast kind of girl. Chicken breast that is. I find it overly meaty and tough and chewy – not my ideal meat of choice. Imagine my disdain when the better half told me all we had left to cook for dinner was two pieces of chicken breast. I mean, fatty pizza from pizza-hut (God-forbid) would have been better. A mouth full of clotted cream more tasty. A spoon-full of cod-liver oil vastly more satisfying. Anything but bloody chicken breast. And so, I decided to hide downstairs while he came up with a recipe to cook the chicken breast with.

IMG_2392 (1000x667)

Alas, he bobbed down and came up with this: It would seem this was an easy recipe – and the best part about it? We had all the ingredients, no need to walk out in the balmy rain to get anything. Tick. I helped with the cooking, the faster we get the bloody breasts cook – the quicker I could eat them and soon forget about them was my thought process. This recipe incorporated two of my favourite things, rosemary and orange. It seemed a cool recipe – could this work? Could this be the recipe to change my aversion to chicken breasts? Would I finally be friends with the breast? HELL YES.ย  The meal was the best damn chicken meal Ive ever had – better than some restaurants we pay far too much for (Alain Ducasse – are you listening?!) The chicken breast, bathed in a robust sticky orange-toffee with hints of rosemary was soft and succulent.ย  It was perfectly cooked and tender –ย  melts in your mouth.ย  As you bite down, an explosion of sweet bitter orange tickle your palate while the seasonings of salt and pepper provide enough taste for you not to need anything else except said chicken. This is such a gorgeous, easy and tasty meal to cook, that it would be a sin for you not to cook it. NOW.

IMG_2393 (1000x667)

Here is the recipe and the method – thank me later ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Two skinless boneless chicken breasts

2 teaspoons of rosemary (about 2 sprigs, de-stemed and chopped)

1/2 teaspoons of salt

1/2 teaspoons of ground black pepper

120ml of dry white wine

240ml orange juice

80ml maple syrup OR honey (the healthier version obviously)

2 tablespoons of butter (no idea how to measure this, we just cut two chunks)

Olive oil

IMG_2375 (1000x667) IMG_2376 (1000x667)

IMG_2378 (1000x667)

Measure out the wine and orange juice and bring to the boil in a small saucepan. Reduce heat slightly, but keep high enough to continue low boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

IMG_2379 (1000x667)

Stir in maple syrup (or honey) and continue boiling for another 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently, until glossy and just slightly thickened.

IMG_2383 (1000x667)

Don’t worry if this doesn’t appear thickened straight way, while its resting, it will thicken itself over time.ย  Set aside.

IMG_2377 (1000x667)

De-stem your rosemary and roughly chop the leaves into tiny bits.

IMG_2381 (1000x667)

In a small bowl mix together the chopped rosemary, salt and pepper.

IMG_2382 (1000x667)

Rub mixture on both sides of chicken breasts, and set aside.

IMG_2384 (1000x667)

Melt butter and olive oil in a large frying pan over medium high heat.

IMG_2385 (1000x667)

Add chicken breasts, cover and saute for about 5 minutes on each side until lightly browned.

IMG_2387 (1000x667)

Now you’re meant to pour orange-syrup mixture over chicken but we didn’t want to waste any of the orange-syrup (our pan was big and there was sure to be wastage)ย  so we transferred the chicken into the pan which had the orange-syrup, this properly infused the chicken with the syrup – y-u-m-m-y!!!

IMG_2390 (1000x667)

Reduce heat to simmer; cover and let cook for another 10 minutes, basting occasionally, until chicken is cooked through and sauce has turned into a rich, thick glaze. Serve with your choice of vegetables. Voila! One STUNNING gorgeous plate of chicken, served hot.

IMG_2391 (1000x667)

Right – try it out people – you won’t be disappointed. Happy cooking!

Easy Orange Cake recipe

IMG_2483 (1000x667)

Last Friday, one of our closest and dearest of friends popped over for dinner, so I decided to bake her a cake, just to make her feel extra special *cue: awwwwww* :). Now if you have been reading the blog, you would have read that I had the best over orange-infused chicken last week, and so, to keep in line with all things *orange* I decided to bake an orange cake.

After scouring the web for easy orange cake recipes, I came across this one from All Recipes, which I tweaked a little. It’s super-duper easy to make and is ready to devour in 50 minutes. Its really light and fluffy – perfect with afternoon tea or coffee. best of all, you can choose whether or not to have with with Orange Buttercream Icing (being healthy and all that). Here’s the recipe;

  • 250g plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 300g caster sugar
  • 125ml milk
  • 125ml orange juice
  • 125ml vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons grated orange

Orange Buttercream Icing:

*I doubled this as I LOVE buttercream icing – I lessened the icing sugar though, instead of 500grams I used 400grams – but this is up to you of course, taste it as you go along and adjust it to the sweetness you want.ย  I also used 10 tbsp of butter instead of 12*

  • 12 tablespoons butter, softened (1 tablespoon is approx 80grams)
  • 500g icing sugar
  • 4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 teaspoon grated orange zest

IMG_2446 (1000x667) IMG_2447 (1000x667)

IMG_2449 (1000x667) IMG_2448 (1000x667)

IMG_2450 (1000x667)

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and flour two 20cm round cake tins. In a measuring jug, combine milk, 125ml orange juice, oil, beaten eggs and 1 1/2 teaspoon orange zest. Set aside.

IMG_2453 (1000x667) IMG_2454 (1000x667)

IMG_2455 (1000x667) IMG_2456 (1000x667)

Sift flour, salt and baking powder into a large bowl. Mix in sugar.

IMG_2459 (1000x667)

Make a well in the center and pour in the milk mixture. Stir until thoroughly combined.

IMG_2460 (1000x667)

Divide into 20cm round cake tins – now mine leaked (spring-form ones will be unsuitable as the cake mixture is way too runny, so unless you have a fixed in round tin, I would advise against it) I ended up using a square rubber mould similar to this.

IMG_2461 (1000x667)

Here’s the silicone mould I was talking about earlier. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

IMG_2462 (1000x667)

Allow to cool.

To make Orange Buttercream Icing;

IMG_2464 (1000x667)

Cream butter until smooth.

IMG_2465 (1000x667)

Gradually beat in icing sugar – don;t do this all at once unless you want a face full of icing sugar dust and end up looking like Casper! Beat until light and fluffy.

IMG_2466 (1000x667)

Beat in 4 tablespoons orange juice to bring to spreading consistency.

IMG_2467 (1000x667) IMG_2468 (1000x667)

IMG_2469 (1000x667)

Stir in vanilla and orange zest.Mix thoroughly.

Now, if you were using two round tins, spread over cooled cakes. If like me you had to use one large tin, slice cake in half, then spread icing sugar in the middle and later, on the top.

IMG_2474 (1000x667)

IMG_2475 (1000x667)

Spread icing evenly on inside and on the top. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_2477 (1000x667)IMG_2478 (1000x667)IMG_2482 (1000x667)IMG_2481 (1000x667)

Serve with a lovely cup of tea!

Dior Addict Lip Glow review

IMG_2398 (1000x667)

Who: Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm

What: A revolutionary made-to-measure lip balm that enhances the lipsโ€™ natural colour

Where: Dior Counters Nationwide, Boots Online Here

How much: ยฃ23.50

OK – now I’ve seen it all. Dior has come up with a one-of-a-kind lip balm that actually interacts with your lips chemistry before deciding to release its own colour ingredient for your very own personalised colour. I mean, its like the sorting hat from Harry Potter, only its for your lips!

IMG_2400 (1000x667)

This lipbalm has a lovely smell to it too – smells like peppermint! I suspect the wild mango and luffa cylindrica*, which is infused in this handy little balm are there to keep your lippies soft and supple, mousturizing it throughout your busy day. I mean, this is perfect if you want very minimal colour – after using this, I noticed my lips were almost instantly plumped and were oh-so-rosy. Check out my before and after pictures;

You will notice my lips were not as dull as before – it perfect for a quick run to the park or grocery shopping BUT also so versatile if you want to pair it with dark eyeshadow for a night out on the town – I personally think its a little too light for me for a night out (I’m more a slutty red lipstick kinda chick for nights out) but I think its great if I want an understated look while strolling through the park with the babies – at least I’ll look presentable enough and not scare away the other people (un-brushed hair, panda eyes and dull lips make for a scary picture don’t you think?!)

At ยฃ23.50 – is not cheap, but this is Dior so I expected it to be pricey – I got this for Christmas last year and I was having a pretty rough time with the pregnancy and so splashed out a little.

Would I buy this again? I doubt unless there’s a deal on ๐Ÿ™‚ – while I love the whole rosy lips look, I reckon Vaseline Rosy Lips (look at the picture below for comparisons, left picture is Dior and right is Vaseline) would do just about the same and costs an arm and a leg cheaper – ยฃ2.18. Can you say BARGAIN?! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

What say you people? Yae or Nae?

Toodles for now,

*point to note: my lips felt very soft, supple and kissable all throughout the day while I had the Dior balm on! ๐Ÿ™‚

Remescar Review

IMG_1336 (1000x667)

Hello there all!!ย  This is the updated post for Remescar Stretch Mark silicone stick. It was first posted in my ‘test’ tab Here is the test post if you want to have a quick look. This was heralded as the new kid on the block against the evil strechmarks that seem plague us women!

So – I have been testing out Remescar for more than 28 days and today I have taken a picture of the before and after so you can judge for yourself. After being 2 weeks late and popping out a beautiful, albeit a little heavy baby girl weighing in at 8 pounds 5 oz – my belly could not stretch anymore and ta-daa! lovely stretch marks for the already body-conscious new-mummy. I had ordered Remescar from reading an article in the Daily Mail here, and yes, I’m a sucker for these ‘miracle workers’ … they definitely roll them out when they see me coming! ๐Ÿ™‚

Right. Lets get down to the nitty-gritty. 1 month of applying it day and night. Does it work? You tell me;

IMG_1334 (1000x667)

IMG_1738 (1000x667)

Well? I think if you look really closely you will see a tiny difference – the stretch mark ridges are less pronounced but like I said – you reallyย need to use a magnifying glass to see anything.

Would I get it again? In my opinion – its alot of money for not great results and I reckon you might be disappointed with the final outcome. Sad times. ๐Ÿ™

Sighhhh….and so, the battle with stretchmarks continue – I’ve recently bought Cussons Mum & Me stretch mark fader which promises results in – yes, you guessed it – 4 weeks! Look out for that post. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you got a miracle stretchmark cure? Let me know by leaving a reply below – I would love to hear what secret remedies you have! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

30 day shred day 21

Day 21

IMG_1726 (667x1000) IMG_1727 (667x1000)

Pre-Pregnancy weight: 50kg Pre-pregnancy waist: 24in Pre-pregnancy thighs: 18in

Weight now: 52.8kg (down .8 from yesterday) Waist now: 24.5in(down .3 from yesterday) Thighs now: 21in (same as yesterday)

OK – firstly I must apologise for not posting for freakin’ ages.ย  For those of you who follow the blog, you might remember that I was frantically tidying up the house for the impending arrival of said folks. Well, them folks have been here for a week now and its been lovely so far. They are totally in love with Baby C and take her off my every chance they get (handy especially as she is weighing a ton now hahaha!! my baby, not my mum that is heehee)ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t really had much time to do my shred as the only real time I get to do it is if I wake up really early in the morning, and my mum – I swear she doesn’t sleep – I woke up at 7am this morning to sneak a shredding session in and there she was, happy as Larry, sitting on the sofa smiling like the joker. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ย  There was no way I was going to do the shred in front of her – me, fumbling around doing bloody side planks = a total comedy. Luckily for me, they went out walking so I did a session. I must admit, my muscles ache a little now, I guess its because i’ve not done it for a few days. Note to self: Wake up at 6am tomorrow morning and do said shred. ๐Ÿ™‚

The weight is slowly falling off and I’m quite impressed with it so far – 9 more days and I’ll be done with it. Which reminds me, I was testing out the new breakthrough in stretch-mark repair by remescar – I must take a picture and see if there is any difference. Look out for that post soon!

Here are days 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5, day 6, day 7, day 8, day 9, day 10, day 11,ย  day 12, day 13, day 14, day 15, day 16, day 17, day 18, day 19 and day 20 if you fancy reading about it.

Are you doing the shred too? I would love to hear from you and how youโ€™re getting on โ€“ just leave a comment in the box below and I will be sure to reply! (when I have a spare minute of course, being a new mummy is a crazy all-time-consuming job!)

Later alligators,

30 day shred day 20

Day 20

IMG_1640 (667x1000) IMG_1639 (667x1000)

Pre-Pregnancy weight: 50kg Pre-pregnancy waist: 24in Pre-pregnancy thighs: 18in

Weight now: 53.4kg (up .6 from yesterday) Waist now: 24.8in(down .2 from yesterday) Thighs now: 21in (same as yesterday)

Well Well WELL. I’m on the first day of level 3 today AND if I’m being honest, its not as scary as I thought it would be. I mean, the jumping bits with the dumbbells are hard work, but after a while, your arms are so numb, you actually don’t feel anything. I didn’t do the shred yesterday as Baby C is going through a sleep regression which means A: I’m not sleeping much and B: She’s cranky all day long; leaving me no time to even fart.ย  I only have 9 more days of this and then that’s it. Over. No more shredding. Rock hard abs – here I come. *rubs hands in glee* ๐Ÿ™‚

So mum and dad are flying down this weekend – and yes, the house is still in a tip. Ive been sneaking in a tidy up of the garage everytime Baby C naps (which isn’t very often) so the garage is looking marginally better (instead of a big bomb going off in the garage, it resembles a little one at the moment) We have to go to the tip to get rid of a truckload of rubbish – stuff that’s just been sitting int he garage for 7 years – yes, both me and the other half are hoarders. Old car door? Tick. Cabinet cupboards with mis-matching handles? You betcha. Ginormous spiders that look that they’ve been bred on mars? You have to see them to believe it.

We recently bought a Rainforest Jumperoo for Baby C – I mean, the amount of stuff you accumulate when you have a baby is amazing. I mean – my living room is just filled with playmats, toys, and now this jumperoo thing – which actually frightens me a little, I mean, you jump and suddenly there are jungle noises that comes out of the monkey. And I swear that tiger is giving me the evils. How much did I pay for this – a whopping ยฃ76.45. Having a baby makes you go a little wonky I think and all sense of what’s normal just flies out the window.

OK – the baby is down – time for me to tackle the garage – fun fun fun!! Bet you wish you were me.

Are you doing the shred too? I would love to hear from you and how youโ€™re getting on โ€“ just leave a comment in the box below and I will be sure to reply! (when I have a spare minute of course, being a new mummy is a crazy all-time-consuming job!)

30 day shred day 19

Day 19

IMG_1638 (667x1000) IMG_1637 (667x1000)

Pre-Pregnancy weight: 50kg Pre-pregnancy waist: 24in Pre-pregnancy thighs: 18in

Weight now: 52.8kg (down 1.1kg from yesterday) Waist now: 25in(same as yesterday) Thighs now: 21in (same as yesterday)

Oh My. Could it be true? My weight this morning was a (wait for it…..) 52.8kg. I mean, could the shred be actually working? I mean, I’m still eating all sorts of rubbish still and I’m sat here drinking a small of bubbly, while I wait for a delicious serving of spaghetti bolognese made by the lovely husband. Now that is going to shoot my calorie count through the roof all the way up to mars. I don’t feel any lighter, nor do I see it, but unless my weighing scales are wrong – somethings working. Could the shred actually be doing something? I don’t know – I’ve always hated excising – I find it mind-numbingly boring. Anyway – one more day and I’m on the final day of level 2. You know what that mean – that’s right.. one more day till the start of Level 3, and then 10 days of that and ITS OVER! Goodbye Jillian. Goodbye bleeding plank-jacks. Goodbye miserable squat-lunge-wierd-thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

It has been actually steaming hot here in London these past two days – and I mean STEAMING – how steaming? Try 30deg steaming. Baby C has been hanging out in just her nappies, which is very cute, but along with this freakishly warm weather, come the annoying mosquitoes, so I’m trying to kill them while simultaneously keeping and eye on her little body *cue hand swats and karate kicks on unseen mosquitoes*

Mum and dad are coming down next Friday and I am freaking out. The house is in a state, my hair is in a mess (I can categorically state that I know for a fact my hair will still be mess next friday) and the garage is practically a tip. My mum is a cleaner, and I would hate for her to come visit me just to clean – and I know she will. There just isn’t enough time in the day for me to clean poos, attend strange rhymathons in the park (yes, they do exist, and yes, adults actually do the hokey-cokey in full view of everyone) and clean. Grrrrrrrr. ๐Ÿ™

Anyhow, I have to run off now, but I am most excited to announce….. that I will be doing a review on Urban Decays Naked foundation tomorrow. Ahhh, its the little things that excite me still. Good times! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Cream Review

Ole Henriksen CC Cream

Ole Henriksen CC Cream

What: Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Cream

Where: Online at Feel Unique

How much: ยฃ29.00

I’ve been wanting to try out Ole Henriksen for a while now – it is a staple among my fellow lovely bloggers but their range is so extensive that I just simply didn’t know where to start.ย  Lately I’ve also read tons on the new CC Cream craze. I mean, I’m just getting over the whole BB cream and thee CC’s have already come out. I mean, maybe after I finish writing this post, the DD cream might be out – who knows?

Anyway, back to my CC cream dilemma. There are TONS of them out there. I mean, every major cosmetic brand has one out. Were to start? God alone knows, so I googled ‘best CC’s creams’ and what do you know, Ole Henriksen was in the list among some other familiar brands. AHA! this was the perfect opportunity to get my little grubby hands on owning an Ole Henriksen product, and try out a CC cream at the same time – winner!

Enter Ole Henriksen’s Perfect truth CC crรจme – a makeup hybrid supercharged multi-tasker that’s designed to brighten, protect and perfect all in one simple step. I mean, creams are sure getting hardworking – before you had to use 2, even 3 creams to brighten, protect and perfect, well, now you don’t have to anymore, Ole Henriksen has kindly combined it all in one snazzy tube for your convenience – how very kind of them right?! ๐Ÿ™‚

The product smells of lovely oranges – I don’t know what it is, but I recently tested out Jane Iredale’s mineral makeup line and their primer smelled of oranges too! I used the cream in the colour medium which was perfect – blended in really well. The cream itself doesn’t feel too heavy and covers up most of my imperfections – its buildable coverage so you can use more if you need it. It was very easy to come off too – and, didn’t break me out in spots (always a good sign). Its suitable for all skin types too – mines a mixture of oily t-zone and very dry cheeks.

IMG_1629 (1000x667)

I think this CC cream has to be the hardest working cream on the block – going by the amount of things its doing to help your skin!

Would I buy it again – yes. Let me tell you why.ย  It feels alot lighter than normal foundation (while managing to provided the same coverage), it smells alot nicer than foundation (hello orange fields of gold!) and it doesn’t have that heavy make-up feeling you sometimes get. The only off putting thing is I guess the price, at ยฃ29.00 its one of the more expensive CC creams out there on the market, HOWEVER, yes, there is a big HOWEVER – if you weigh how much more your getting from the product – I mean, think about it – you don’t have to shell out for a brightener, no need for concealer and no need for sunblock – you’re saving a ton of ยฃยฃkerching-chingยฃยฃ right there dude! Check out my before and after pictures below – sorry about the light exposure on the second picture – camera went a little wonky. As you can see – my skin is quite alot smoother in the second picture.

I’m an Ole Henriksen convert. Though it’ll be a while before I get anything else from their range – I have to save up first!

Do you love/loathe Ole Henriksen? Have you tried their CC crรจme? Or perhaps you have other products of theirs that are simply cannot-live-without-must-haves? Let me know in the comments section below – sharing is caring lovelies! ๐Ÿ™‚
