The giraffe legged sister recently got herself a lovely job over at the kind people of HP – and to give us a treat, she decided to bring us out to a buffet at the best hotel in Singapore (in my own opinion). It is where I wanted to get married at – but they didn’t have the ballroom available on that day I wanted. The gorgeous Raffles Hotel, with its colonial roots and hacienda style layout is a sight to behold – large open spaces and plenty of flowers everywhere. Its home to 103 rooms – of various sizes. In all its glory of 125 years, it has remained a legend in its own class and I would highly recommend coming here, even if its for a quick Singapore Sling in the Long Bar (where this drink was born) Upon entering, you are welcomed by Sikh doormen who usher guests through an ornate lobby that seems unaltered from the turn of the century – everything here seems old school but new in a strange way. Its like walking through time that’s been polished up a little. No trip to Singapore is complete without a visit to The Raffles Hotel.
We were having an International buffet lunch at the Bar and Billiard Room – which was lovely. I am normally afraid of buffets – only because I always feel its a waste of money on me as i eat like a bloody bird. Anyway we went anyway and it was a lovely experience all in all, per person it costs $63.60. The food was nice – and there was plenty to choose from. There were ever self steaming prawns! I loved the ambiance of the whole place and I am definitely going back the next time I come back here, hopefully with mum.
Here’s some pictures I took;
You can also dine AL-fresco, its truly lovely out here;
And of course, the tradition is to have a game of snooker in the famous billiard room that’s just outside of the restaurant;
See you at the Raffles – no Singapore visit is complete without a stop by here (even if its just for a quick drink!)
