**Update**

Well Well Well.  It’s been 4 weeks since I read that article in the Daily Mail about how this serum with ‘Matrixyl’ (a common ingredient apparently) was clinically proven to decrease wrinkles, sending women into a crazy frenzy and rushing to their nearest Boots to grab one of Olay’s 3-Point Serum (me included of course) to help with these pesky wrinkle lines that plague us no end.

For 4 weeks, I have been religious (even more so than going to church!) about putting two pumps of this super serum on in the morning and two pumps in the evening.  Even when I’ve fallen asleep on the sofa – I’ve had the better half drag me up (yes – waking me up from my sleep that I don’t get enough of in the first place is mad!!)  just so I could put this cream on, after all – it is meant to be scientifically proven by the Daily Mail’s reporter who tested it out for 4 weeks – just like I did. I will say though – that after a month of 4 pumps a day, I still have a little left over whereas I thought that I would have had to but another tube.

And so, on the 19 of June I hot footed down to get a scan of my face from the Visia imagery machine – just to make sure you could see it on paper (or screenshot in this matter!) and today, about 1 month and a bit after – I’ve gone back to get my face scanned again and get the results from my 4-week test. I was excited – I mean, this was going to show results – no lying – the machine doesn’t lie, its very honest, just like the wicked queen’s mirror mirror on the wall, only this time I wouldn’t be asking who was the fairest of them all (certainly not me – I’ve been in the scorching sun all week!! 🙂 ) I would be asking the magical machine – did my wrinkles decrease as promised? And so, it told me. Boy did it tell me.

The result? An epic FAIL :(. In fact – my wrinkles increased! I went from 91% to 83% – the closer you are to 100% the better. My spot-count got worse too – from 83% to 73% but I am always going to expect that with my horrendous skin.

So – it doesn’t work when it comes to helping wrinkles and don’t take my word for it if you don’t believe me – but I have scientific evidence as proof, and that my lovelies – you cannot ignore.  Such a shame though, I was sure I could see my wrinkle lines decreasing! I guess it just goes to show how we ‘make’ things happen with our minds when we want to so desperately believe that it does work, we somehow manage to convince ourselves! 🙁

Won’t be buying again – doesn’t work unfortunately! 🙁

*Read updated version with results here*

I was reading through the daily mail last week when something caught my eye. ‘The secret £10 wrinkle buster…’ I love reading articles like that – why? Because I’m a massive idiot and I believe everything I read in the papers. Clinically proven, tired and confirmed blah blah blah. That was one off the main reasons I started doing this review website – there was just so many things I bought that were tried and clinical that I have lost count how much money I’ve spent  – AND I didn’t see any difference Foolish? Perhaps. I’m working on it though – one unhealthy addiction at a time! 🙂

This time, I’m doing my OWN trial.  Yes, you head me. How? Well, yesterday evening, I popped to Harley Street to The London Dermatalogy Centre on Wimpole Street and got a 3D scan of my face using their VISIA 3D face mapping machine (See picture of results below) no surprise my biggest flaws were spots and wrinkles.  This machine tells you all the lies about your face you’ve been trying to hide with make up.  Oh yes – its a bitch to meet but it’s the only way I can scientifically prove if something works – and I have no hidden agenda (I’m not a journalist who might have been paid to write the article #justsaying)

Visia Results – the higher the number the better

And so, this morning, Ive started using the same cream that article advised, Olay’s 3-point Super Serum, which contains this super ingredient that apparently is common in many creams ‘Matrixyl’.  Read the article from the Daily Mail here. Apparently, the results were astonishingly good. The writer who tested it went fro 55/100 to 95/100 after 4 weeks. Impressed? I will be if I get results like that!

So – in four weeks time (unless I get a terrible reaction to it of course) – I’ll do an update on this and you can judge for yourself. Ive already booked in my Visia appointment! Wish me luck!

**Update**

Like Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub (updated review here) I had to stop using this too because I broke out into stupid pimples/milia/acne god-knows-what (again)  Like its sister scrub, this earns points for not drying out my skin even though I’ve used it daily.  This also earns more points because it smells lovely and the bursting beads contained within this product leaves my face baby smooth after I use it in the morning.

Another thing to note its this is the only exfoliator I own that is a shiny shimmery gold! 🙂

Alas, it was not to be and so I will unfortunately have to stop using these now. Read the original review here.

Have you tried this and it worked/didn’t work for you?

P/S: YES – I can see whose wrinkles too.  Fret not – I currently have 2 wrinkle busting serums I am going to try – read about them in Testing 1,2,3.  Pray that one of them works, if not – Harley Street! (I joke I joke! ) 🙂

**UPDATE**

Ok, after using this and the morning burst scrub for 2 weeks, I unfortunately have to stop.  I noticed that I was slowly gaining some new ‘followers’ and no, not on twitter, but on my face. I noticed it on friday but decided to use for a couple more days to see if it was just a one off thing. Read the initial post here.

One of the best things about this which I will write about is that even though its an exfoliator and you are only meant to exfoliate twice a week, this does live up to its name of being a daily exfoliator without drying out my skin

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be and yesterday evening, we were full steam ahead with the pesky pimples.  See pictures below.

Overall – a no for me but it gets points for not drying out my skin even after using it daily.

Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

Body Shop Tea Tree Mask

Name: Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

Price: £10.00

Where : Body Shop Outlets, Body Shop Online

Tea Tree is the best cure for pimples, as sworn by Dr’s I have met. I’ve got Tea Tree oil, Tea Tree body scrubs, Tea Tree soap and Tea Tree exfoliating pads. I have always had pimples – a curse bestowed on me and my poor giraffe-legged baby sister since we was young. Now in my late twenties – nothing has changed and I have been on antibiotics for as long as 2 years to help get rid of these pesky pimples that plague my life no end.

I was on a mission to try and cure my pimples with products so I could stop relying on pills when my doctor advised trying Tea Tree – so I went a little crazy and bought a load of Tea Tree products. The body shop offered, among other Tea Tree products, a Tea Tree mask, promising to remove impurities, absorb excess oil (yet another of my curses) and soothes skin (I presume for those of us who execute the right to poke, prod and burst our pimples hence leaving a nasty red swollen spot in its wake).

This is my favourite mask from the body shop. It smells divine and a bonus is that it always gets rid of the oil on my face! It took me 2 weeks to notice my skin clearing and I love the tingling feeling it leaves on your face afterwards. I use this once a week as at £10, it’s a pricey buy and because it’s quite thin, I find myself having to use quite a bit to cover my big face!  I have had less breakouts, but I must admit because I only use it once a week, it’s not enough to keep my pesky pimples at bay – so while I am on less antibiotics now, the mask didn’t not totally get rid of my issues as I have way too many different types of annoying bumps – still though, I would recommend this to anyone with basic pimple issues – it works if you stick with it. Give it at least a month (or more) to really see results and those pesky pimples gone!

Get it here online.

Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector

Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector

Right – round two with Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector.  If you remember, I first tried this cream about a month ago after noticing that I had dark spots all over the place due to my temperamental skin.  My cousin convinced me that this was going to be a saviour and so, I bought two.  The previous review I wrote you can find here.

Now before, I made the rookie mistake of trying to use too many creams at once and of course, surprise surprise, my horrible skin broke out into all manner of disarray – pimples, dry skin, milia  – yes, they all came to the party, with hats on.  And so, I stopped all the creams, let my skin rest for a while, before embarking on a month of Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector – morning and night. So – Take #2 with this cream then eh?! 🙂 Continue reading

I swear by Soap and Glory Flake Away – it is quite possibly, the best body scrub for reptilian legs such as my own (apparently its not very cool to have scaly legs?! who knew!!)   And, guess who introduced it to me? Yes – the better half (can he do any wrong – help me out here!!!)  A few years ago, we were Christmas shopping in Oxford Circus and ended up in Boots.  He was looking at God knows what (boy stuff as usual), and I was looking for more (surprise surprise) make-up. 🙂 Continue reading

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Instant Tonic Boost and Skin Repair Moisturizer

Liz Earle 3-Step Programme

One word. Impressed.  For the last two weeks, I have been religious in using the three-step programme – cleanse, tone and moisturize and I am pleasantly surprised.  My skin is the clearest it has ever been ( the only time I could  have said this was when I was on antibiotics to help clear it up)  – the acne, pimples, milia have been kept at bay.

Proactiv Solution

Proactiv Solution

Everyone knows – I have terrible skin and have had since I was a teenager. It’s truly a curse when you wake up and at 28 – still have constant breakouts.  It’s embarrassing and costly (the amount I’ve spent on creams, treatments, consultants and make up to cover it all up is quite scary and I try not to think about it too much)  Then there was the time I was advised to try the revolutionary Intense Pulse Light Therapy.  The system releases yellow, green and red light that is then emitted in a series of short pulses.  The yellow and green lights destroys the bacteria that causes the acne, then the red light targets the overactive sebaceous glands that’s the cause of all evil.   Continue reading
